Description: Mendelssohn 1:691. 'The pamphlet contains "the substance of two lectures on the Zulu War and the Natal Colony, the remarks on the Transvaal being added," the author stating in the Preface that the work is published to counteract the absurd and untruthful representations made respecting persons and events "during the period of the two wars of 1879, vis.: the Zulu War in South Africa and the war between political parties in Britain." It is asserted that the people of England, while knowing little about the British colonies in South Africa, know probably less of Natal and the Transvaal than any other of our South African possessions'.
